Kids Against Hunger (KAH) is a non-profit organization whose mission is
to provide fully nutritious food to impoverished children around the world.
Feeding programs, orphanages, schools, and clinics are the direct paths we use
to feed children. The Hastings Kiwanis Club is sponsoring this program to kick
off our 2008-09 year. It is our goal to make this a community project to include
any club, organization, or citizen in the Hastings area that wishes to participate.

New Hastings Satellite
On October 25,2008 the Hastings Kids Against Hunger Satellite was born with the
shipment of startup materials and food supplies. Several Kiwanis volunteers
helped load the shipment on a trailer to transport it to it's new home in the
Manual Arts building of the old Middle School. More volunteers joined the group
at the Manual Arts building to unload the shipment by hand and stock it in the
new location.

Members from our Hastings club are shown the process in Lincoln. Jesse takes a turn scooping ingredients into the food bags. Getting instructions on what to do next. Observing how easy it is to package food for hungry children everywhere. One completed bag means six people will not go hungry today. This single box contains 216 meals! The Hastings KAH committee meets to plan our own sattelite. The KAH committee wants you to fight world hunger!

Hastings KAH gets trained
Kiwanians and Key Club students working together to demonstrate KAH to the local media. Demonstrating to the media, how easy it is to package food to combat world hunger. A former Hastings resident, Tim Strommer trains the Hastings Kiwanians how to package KAH food packets. We listen intently to Tim Strommer as he talks to us about KAH. Training complete, Kiwanians practice the packaging process. Packing food packets is easy and fun! It also gives you a good feeling to know that you are helping save starving children. In a little over an hour, we packaged over 2000 meals.
