How We Got Started
Members of the Hastings Kiwanis Club, concerned about the growing tragedy of
world hunger, formed a new committee within the club to find a way to make a
difference. After several meetings by the committee and a trip to the Lincoln
KAH satellite, a plan was put into motion to form a KAH satellite in Hastings.
Completed boxes are shrink wrapped and ready to feed hungry children throughout the world.

New Hastings Satellite
On October 25, 2008 the Hastings KAH satellite was born with the shipment of
startup materials and food supplies. Several Kiwanis volunteers helped load the
shipment on a trailer to transport it to it's new home in the Manual Arts
building of the old Middle School. More volunteers joined the group at the
Manual Arts building to unload the shipment by hand and stock it in the new
location.

Hastings KAH Gets Trained
On Saturday morning November 8, 2008 Tim Strommer with KAH International,
returned to his home town of Hastings to train our Hastings Kiwanis Club how to
package the life-saving KAH food packets. Members of Kiwanis and the Hastings
Senior High Key Club learned how quick and easy it is to make a difference in
the battle against world hunger. During the two hours, the group of volunteers
packaged over 2000 meals!

Training complete, Kiwanians practice the packaging process.
Packing food packets is easy and fun! It also gives you a good feeling to know that you are helping save starving children.

Hastings KAH Kick Off Fundraiser Event November 9, 2008
On Sunday November 9, 2008 KAH of Hastings officially got underway. Our kickoff
event at the Adams County Fairgrounds, gave people a chance to see what Kids
Against Hunger® is all about. Members of Kiwanis and Key Club were on hand
to serve BBQ pork sandwiches for a free will donation to raise money for the KAH
of Hastings satellite. Packaging tables were also set up to demonstrate how the
meal packets are made and to allow the public to join in the fun. Kiwanians, Key
Clubbers, and members of the community, packaged over 5000 meals during the
event!
