Welcome to Kids Against Hunger® of Hastings
Kids Against Hunger® (KAH) is a non-profit organization with the mission to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and to feed starving children throughout the world. This is being achieved by getting volunteers involved and by setting up food packaging satellites in the USA, and through partnerships with humanitarian organizations worldwide - enabling Kids Against Hunger to deliver a specially formulated rice-soy casserole to starving children and their families in more than 40 countries. The Kids Against Hunger network currently includes over 30 food packaging satellites across the United States and one in Canada.
The Hastings Kiwanis Club is sponsoring the latest
satellite location in the Kids Against Hunger
network. It is our goal to make this a community wide project to include
any club, organization, or individual in the Hastings area that wishes
to stamp out the terrible problem of world hunger. It is an unfortunate
fact that everyday, 40,000 children die from malnutrition, starvation,
and hunger related diseases. This means that 12 children die of starvation every
minute. Kiwanis, as a global organization dedicated to changing the world one
child and one community at a time, is very concerned with reversing this trend
and greatly reducing this number. Concerned members of the Hastings Kiwanis
club, set out on a mission to find a solution.
The Solution
The solution is a revolutionary food package that has been developed by some of the world's leading food scientists at Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills, and ADM. This one package provides six nutritionally-complete servings to feed starving children around the world as well as the hungry here at home, and all for the low cost of 23 cents per serving!

The meal ingredients were formulated by these scientists to provide a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by an undernourished child's body and mind. The food is also acceptable to the broad diversity of ethnic tastes and religious differences around the world. The food offers all 9 of the essential amino acids required for complete nutrition, something that can't be said about other typical food relief sources such as rice or beans alone. It is also very simple to prepare, requiring only 6 cups of boiling water to make a complete meal.
The Hastings Kids Against Hunger satellite, is currently housed in the Manual Arts building of the old Hastings Middle School located on the corner of 7th Street and Hastings Avenue in Hastings.
