BE A PART OF THE KIWANIS TEAM A typical Kiwanis Club is a snapshot of its community, with members from all walks of life and at every step of the career ladder. They are also unified in their belief that children and their communities benefit from the efforts of a proficient group of caring and involved volunteers. Does this describe you? The organization of the Hastings Kiwanis Club was completed on December 14, 1920, just 5 years after the first Kiwanis Club was started in Detroit. The club started with 53 charter members. The official charter was presented at a dinner meeting at the Clarke Hotel on January 12, 1921 by A. R. Edmiston, the District Governor from Lincoln Nebraska. The following is from the Hastings Daily Tribune:
Today, the Hastings Kiwanis Club is 101 members strong and growing every day. The club meets every Thursday at noon at the OK Cafe 806 W 16th. The Hastings Kiwanis Club is a part of the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis District. The Hastings Kiwanis Club also has a thriving Aktion Club and a growing Key Club at Hastings Senior High School.
